The National Council approved membership of the Expert council and the draft law on ratification of the convention on transborder broadcasting
The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting approve the membership of the Expert Council, which will work during the election campaign 2007. The decision of creation of the Expert Council was approved by the National Council on the basis of positive experience of the election campaign 2006, when it was founded for the first time in order to give expert assessment and recommendations on controversial issues of activities of mass media during the elections. Expert Council members are: Olga Bolshakova (Eastern European Institute of Mass Media Problems), Vitaliy Zamnius (International Renaissance Foundation), Kateryna Kotenko (Industrial Television Committee), Tetyana Kalyuzhynska (Association of Media Lawyers), Nataliya Lygachova ("Telekrytyka"), Pavlo-Moisyeev (Internews-Ukraine), Kateryna M’yasnykova (National Association of Linguists), Oksana Polyuga (OSCE project coordinator in Ukraine). During the elections 2006 the Expert council approved 11 expert conclusions, among them: a number of conclusions on political ads of Natalya Vitrenko political block, ads of Public Activists of Kyiv, on conduction of pre-election debates, and others. The Independent Expert council defined pairs of debates participants, conducted several press conferences on the coverage of the working process of the Expert council.
